I alllllmost picked up a big rectangular gravel art wall hanging depicting a Japanese tea garden at Red White and Blue Thrift last weekend.  They only take cash and I was short; we went back the next day and it was GONE!

Ever since, I’ve been obsessively checking out gravel art online.

Here’s my favorite so far:

Apparently these were sold as DIY kits in the 50′s.  To my eye some of these look as late as the 70′s. That’ pretty much all I know about them.  That, and I want to make one so BAD!

I am also totally in love with gravel art. I think it is because I watched someone make one when I was a kid. Anyway, seeing it always makes me smile. I have been collecting kits and also designing my own with recycled glass. I have been researching gravel art and have not been able to find much. Please let me know if you find any info as I am thinking of writing about it. Thanks.

Will do, Jody. I’d love to see some of your kits! Thanks for stopping by.
